Passion for Community Health

Drs. López and Read Campos are friends and have a sincere passion for helping their community. They were both raised on the Central Coast and have dedicated their professional lives to enhancing the quality of care for all members of our beautiful community. In addition, they are both raising their daughters in this area.

Our clinic provides research-informed and culturally-humble services founded in Developmental, Humanistic, and Cognitive Behavioral Theories. Drs. López and Read Campos actively seek training opportunities to stay up to date on best-care practices in psychological services.

Dr. Susana A. López, Ph.D.

Dr. López is a bicultural and bilingual (Spanish/English) licensed clinical psychologist and scholar who specializes in culturally-humble and trauma-informed healing centered psychological interventions and assessments for individuals who have experienced life difficulties, including marginalization and oppression. Dr. Lopez has a passion for working with child and adult clients on issues related to family challenges, immigration/acculturation processes and trauma, and resilience. 

Dr. López believes that a strong therapeutic alliance is the biggest agent of change and that clinical treatment guided by kindness and science can provide individuals with the internal resources and skills needed to navigate through the difficulties of life to achieve insight, empathy, and to repair and increase overall well-being in the individual and community at large.

Dr. López utilizes a liberation-centered, humanistic, and strength-based approach in order to meet the unique needs of each of her clients and their families. All services are rooted in supporting diverse lived experiences.

Education: 
Dr. López completed her Ph.D. in Counseling, Clinical and School Psychology from the University of California Santa Barbara and an American Psychological Association Approved predoctoral internship at the USC/Children Hospital Los Angeles with a focus on pediatric trauma. In addition, she completed a 2 yr. postdoctoral fellowship at UCLA with a focus on community mental health and intervention-based research.

Dr. Kristin Read Campos, Ph.D.

Dr. Read Campos is a bilingual (English/Spanish) licensed clinical psychologist who specializes in psychological assessment, treatment, and consultation for neurodivergent individuals and their families. She is dedicated to supporting families and caregivers of individuals with diverse abilities across the lifespan.  

Dr. Read Campos believes that clinical assessment can be used to uncover and promote understanding of individual strengths and support needs with the overall goal of enhancing the capacity for self-advocacy for individualized supports and services. She offers neurodiversity affirming autism assessment for toddlers through adulthood. 

Dr. Read Campos utilizes cognitive behavioral interventions with an affirming and humanistic heart to support children, families, and adults. Common concerns include symptoms of anxiety, depression, inattention/impulse control, and trauma. All services are rooted in affirming the natural human variation in gender, sexuality, and neurotype.  

 Education:

Dr. Read Campos completed her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Penn State and an American Psychological Association Approved predoctoral internship at USC/Children’s Hospital Los Angeles with a focus on assessment and consultation. In addition, she gained experienced as a psychologist for Tri-Counties Regional Center where she focused on assessment and treatment of developmental disabilities.
